Department of Music

 

Millsaps College is proud to present a wealth of music events each semester. Concerts from the Millsaps Singers and Chamber Singers, and recitals by faculty and student musicians, as well as the Bell Piano Concert Series and special performances from artists both local and world-renowned, make each season exciting, informative, and entertaining. All events are open to the public except as noted. The Events Calendar may be subject to change.

Guest Artist Recital: Robert Knupp, organist

Robert Knupp, organ professor at Mississippi College and organist at Galloway United Methodist Church, performs music by Bach, Bolcom and Reubke.

Millsaps Singers Concert "Our Wesleyan Heritage"
7:30 p.m. - Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall
The 65-voice Millsaps Singers choir, conducted by Dr. Timothy Coker, presents a choral concert celebrating the Anglican roots of the United Methodist Church's choral music.
Free admission, with donations accepted at the door

Guest Artist Concert: Heather Denham, John Paul & Greg Miller

7:30 p.m. - Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall
Vocalist Heather Denham collaborates with pianist John Paul and poet Greg Miller in a performance of Copland's Emily Dickinson Song Cycle.

Prospective Students: Fine Arts Scholarships Audition Day

Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall
Incoming freshmen and transfer students audition for scholarships in music (voice, piano, organ, guitar, orchestral instruments). Scholarships are available to students majoring in music or other disciplines. See Music Scholarships for application and guidelines. An alternative audition day is scheduled for Monday, March 7.

The 25th Annual AGO Choral-Organ Festival with organist Chris Brunt and the 65-voice Millsaps Singers choir conducted by Dr. Timothy Coker.
