The Crescent City Caper

A gathering of Alumni from the 1960's and early 70's

A note from the Eugene Countiss

Merriam-Webster Dictionary
caper, noun
Date: 1592
1: a frolicsome leap: 2: a capricious escapade: 3: an illegal or questionable act
No matter how you define it, this is one party you won't want to miss.
36 rooms have been booked out of a block of 50, so space is limited. Don't be left out.

Dates: Friday, July 30th - Sunday, August 1st
Place: New Orleans, Louisiana

Hotel reservations:
We are holding a block of rooms at the recently renovated Hotel Monteleone, located in the French Quarter. The group rate for a Traditional King or Double Double room, single or double occupancy, is $99.00 per night plus 13% city and state tax and $2.00 per room per night occupancy tax ($113.87 per night total). Triple and Quad rates are available. There is a two night minimum stay requirement and the rate is available for Thursday before and Sunday after, if you care to come in early or stay late.
Make your reservations by calling the hotel direct at: (800) 535-9595 and requesting the Millsaps College Alumni group rate or on line at Hotel Monteleone.

Reservations require a one night deposit and may be canceled without penalty up to 72 hours before arrival. Cancellations within 72 hours of arrival will result in forfeiture of the deposit. Please make your reservations as soon as possible, because the hotel will sell out on weekends in the Summer. Our original block of 25 rooms is already sold out, and we have added an additional 25 rooms, bringing the total to 50 rooms. We may need more, but we'll have to fill these first.

Parties and meals:
Plans are for a cocktail party Friday night in the French Quarter, cocktails and dinner with live music Saturday night. Final arrangements should be completed shortly, but the cost will be $130 per person, all inclusive. A registration form will go out shortly.

Optional Outings:
Golf at the Audubon Park Golf Course , visits to the WWII Museum and it's new show "Beyond All Boundaries", and the Museum of Southern Art  are available.

Note: Croswell said he would help me lead the charge to the WWII Museum to see the show, it's supposed to be fantastic, and Tim Millis is headed for the golf course on Saturday. I hope you'll join us.

Important information:
If you would like a list of those signed up to date, please send me an email or call me. Also, please forward this to anyone who may be interested. If you want to see them here, they have to know about it. We need to get the word out to insure the largest possible attendance. If you have questions, please contact Eugene Countiss  (504) 905-5091, or Floy Holloman (832) 867-3846.

Looking forward to seeing you here,

Eugene Countiss
